Cinematic Poet Productions was founded by Shatara Jordan, a multi-disciplinary artist born and raised in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. Shatara initially went to school for music production, but later switched her major to theatre. While pursuing her Bachelors in Theatre, Shatara not only gained recognition for her writing through national competitions and winning local poetry slams, but she started creating content in her college dorm room that combined her love for music, storytelling, and poetry. 

She referred to her style of content as cinematic poetry, a musical blend of poetry incorporating elements of cinema. Shatara wanted to explore the different ways one could consume a particular type of media, and did not want to confine her ideas into a box. 

Shatara is a 2024 Cleveland Arts Prize Verge Fellow in the Interdisciplinary category. A three-time competitor in the Womxn of the World Poetry Slam, she has placed in the top 25 nationally. In 2023, she wrote and directed When a Poet Loves, a short film that premiered at the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland and was selected as an official entry in the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival. She has also brought her creative expertise to institutional spaces, serving as a Social Media Specialist and Content Support Coordinator at Ideastream Public Media.
